I've been coming to this site for nearly a year now, ever since I decided to get back into motorcycling with some sort of street bike. I was looking for something light, cheap, simple, and easy to work on. From my search on the 'net, the Savage seemed to fit my requirements perfectly. I was actively looking for a used Savage in my area of south Alabama when fate brought me a '86 Honda 700 Magna. A bit more than I was looking for, 4 cylinders, 4 cams, 16 valves, water cooling, 535 lbs. - so much for light, simple, and easy to work on. But it did meet the main criteria; it was cheap (free). But I still like the Savage and have toyed with the idea of getting one just to play with. (Yeah, like I only do serious work on the Magna.)

By your keen observation of the kind of people who ride the Savage, you have made me want to join them. I had no idea that all the women who ride Savages are "ladies of small thinness" and that the men enjoy eternal youth. Youth is something I've been short of lately as I slouch through middle age and parts of my body I never knew I had announce their presence with dull aches and pains. But now I have the antidote. I shall, after the holidays, renew my search for a Savage to tool around on, customize, and tinker with.

Who knows, I may even meet a lady of small thinness to share the second half of my life. Thank you for your message of joy this holiday season, and I hope that when you see your youth slipping away you can find something so simple to give a measure of it back.
